Dreamer is like my own horse.

    She has always been with me for the past year. She always comforts me when I am sad. If something ever happened to her I would definitely cry. My dream is to some day own Dreamer.   

    I had just gotten home from vacation, my friend Christie called and I answered the phone and by the first word she said I could tell that she was very concerned. She asked me if I had seen Dreamer since I had gotten back and I said no. She told me no details other than the fact that she was sick and was loosing weight.

    She couldn’t tell me any more because she had to get off the phone because there was some sort of little emergency she hung up and I was caught just lying on my bed starting to cry. The next time I saw her she was super thin but she was out in pasture by her self. Jessie, my riding teacher, told me she had lost one-hundred pounds and she could have died. I was stunned that no one told me that and I could have not seen her before she died.

    Dreamer is an ex-racehorse. Most people think of race horses as high tempered thoroughbreds but Dreamer is a quarter horse. Quarter horses are usually used for things like rodeos but their name means that they are the best at running a quarter mile. Those are the kinds of races she was in and normally quarter horses are the exact opposite of high tempered.  Dreamer has had seven foals. Foals are baby horses for any one who doesn’t know.

    Most people think that Dreamer is a good for nothing horse. She is so perfect for me because she will comfort me when ever she can tell that I am sad, which is almost always.  Most people think that horses are just four legged things that spook easily. But I say they are more than that. I say if dogs are mans best friend then horses are mans most loyal friend. 

   I don’t know how people can just give up on horses after one bad experience. A couple of my friends said they had dreams and passion for horses but some thing bad happened and they quit.  I told them that I had been bucked and half reared off a horse and another time the horse bolted on me and I fell onto cement. I still love horses no matter what happens that is what I think dreams and passion mean. It means you will always stay with it no matter what other people say and what happens.

   I have been riding horses for about three years now and I don’t ever expect to quit. I really want to go into jumping. I would be so happy if I could enter a competition called the McClays. The McClays are the biggest junior national jumping competition. I am going to learn jumping very soon and might be changing stables. If I do I will miss Dreamer a ton but I will still get to see her because I will be working for free there, at my old stables so I will never forget Dreamer.
