Dear Colleagues,

We are honored to accept the charge of co-chairing the Higher Learning Commission Self-Study Team for Morningside College. The work of our comprehensive Self-Study will be significant and challenging.

We believe the Morningside College community is ready for the extensive effort necessary to successfully engage in the Self-Study process. In fact, the College's readiness has already been demonstrated as faculty, staff and students worked tirelessly on the summer task forces that informed the five-year plan. We want to build upon that effort and the excitement of this new beginning for Morningside College as we enter the self-study process.

We have a first-class HLC Self-Study Team organized to coordinate our work and we are committed to engaging all essential constituents in the self-study process. Please use our website to learn more about the Higher Learning Commission and our Plan for the Self-Study. You will find information on our web page describing our purposes, expectations and process for the Self-Study. As we move forward, you will also have opportunities to share your thoughts and to prepare for the site team visit in February 2004.

Bookmark our website and visit it often! This is the best way to keep informed about the process. We will provide periodic updates as we generate and collect information.

We are excited about the important work of this Self-Study, and especially interested in your ideas and input. Please forward your feedback and questions to either
Mary (712-274-5252) or Steve (712-274-5388).

Sincerely,

Mary Leida,
Dean of Advising
Co-Chair of HLC Self-Study
Steve Nimmo,
Associate Dean
Co-Chair of HLC Self-Study
