The Lone Wolf
Part 1
Once there was a wolf who had sleek, grayish black hair, and the wolf’s name was Granite. He was sleeping in his den until a rumble woke him up. He saw snow that was beginning to tumble down the rocky cliffs. A-VA-LANCHE!! A minute or two later the rumbling and the tumbling of the avalanche settled. His den was snowed in!
He could hear his fellow wolves howling in the morning for him. Granite howled back, but no one howled back in response. He tried again, and still no responses, so Granite just gave up. He thought that since his den was snowed in, maybe they hadn’t heard him.
He tried digging at the snow. A minute or two later, Granite saw some light, and he kept digging. After he came out of the icy prison, he walked about the area to stretch his legs. Sometime later, he heard a scamper. Some kind of rodent was moving around a couple bushes, and Granite went over to check it out. It was lemmings; the scurrying was coming from two healthy looking lemmings.
Granite stalked closer and closer to the lemmings, once he was close enough, Granite lunged and grabbed both of the lemmings into his mouth. The barricade of sharp teeth blocked the lemmings from going anywhere. After Granite ate both of the lemmings, he was full with food but not water. He then remembered that it was the beginning of March, and that meant... Spring!
Granite rushed down to the spring fed lake (which he was close by), and once he caught sight of the lake, he trotted right up to the edge and lapped up as much water as his stomach could hold. Granite would always remember the feeling of the trickling water racing down his throat all the way to his stomach. Once Granite's stomach was full with food and water, he wandered further into the forest until he found some smoke; which meant that he found a village, Granite was too tired from the food and the water that he drank so he wandered around until he came across a dark, gloomy cave. He decided just to stay there for the night until tomorrow he would go exploring in the village.
