By Steven Postolka
We often complain about the influence of money in politics. And probably for good reason. In recent years we have had officials in trouble for money–related, white collar crimes. Remember the Jack Abramoff scandal? But money also has a lot of influences in American politics that aren’t illegal. (Dec. 5)

Glorification of the military creates only more bloodshed
By Samantha McCarville
A few days before Thanksgiving break I decided I needed to take some time to relax, so I went to a movie with some of my friends. Had we come into the wrong movie or was this just a preview for some horrible upcoming show? In reality, it was something far worse: military propaganda. (Dec. 5)

Fourteen years. That is a long time. Fourteen years is more time than what we put into our pre–collegiate schooling. Fourteen years is surely a long time. It has been 14 years since Guns N’ Roses last released a studio album, with the last being The Spaghetti Incident released in 1993. It is now the end of 2008, and it has finally happened. (Dec. 5)

College Culture: ‘Hell between the holidays’

The library overflows with students staring at computers in frustration. Desperately they attempt to finish the research papers that were assigned at the beginning of the semester. No one can believe that time slipped away this quickly. It seems as if only yesterday the school year began. (Dec. 5)
