Welcome!
Morningside's Department of Mass Communication offers students broad-based exposure to the liberal arts and hands-on experience that prepares them for careers in the mass media and corporate communication. Our majors enjoy a variety of experiences across media while taking courses in law, theory, history, and public relations.
Courses are taught from a liberal arts perspective, which puts the focus on the mass media's role in society and how they are intimately connected with politics, business, art and science. Technical courses in audio and video production encourage students to experience new technology while stretching themselves creatively. In all courses students focus on proficiency in writing that is clear, concise and informative.
Students can put their classroom knowledge into practice at any of Morningside's campus media. KMSC-FM is heard throughout Sioux City and is the official voice of Morningside sports. Television programs produced by MCTV air on the city's cable access station, and The Collegian Reporter, Morningside's student newspaper, reports on campus events, sports and the arts in both a printed and online publication.
