Clifford N. Towner

Clifford N. Towner is assistant professor and director of bands at Morningside College. Mr. Towner earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in 1993 and a Master's in Music Education from Wright State University (Dayton, Ohio) in 2004. Before coming to Morningside College, he taught high school music for ten years in the Cincinnati area, the last eight of those at McNicholas High School.

At Wright State University, Mr. Towner was responsible for directing the Concert Band in the fall of 2002 as well as instructing Marching Band Techniques, High Brass Methods, Music Theory and Beginning Conducting. Also included with his teaching duties, Cliff planned and directed two regional tours for the WSU Wind Symphony. During his tenure at WSU, he studied conducting with Dr. David Booth.

From 1995 to 2002, Mr. Towner served as director of music at McNicholas High School in Cincinnati. His duties there included directing the Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band, Chamber Ensembles, and Choir as well as teaching Music Theory and Music Appreciation. Under his direction, the ensembles at McNicholas received many accolades including superior ratings at both the district and state levels.

Mr. Towner is a member ofMusic Educators National Conference (MENC), College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA), and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and is listed in the newest edition of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.
