LKAM POLICIES AND PROCEDURES FOR PRIVATE STUDY

Instructional Fees
Tuition covers 12 lessons, performance classes, string play days, the spring recital, and other Academy events. Scholarship consideration will be given to those families with multiple students in the program as well as those with other financial needs. Scholarship applications are available in the College office. Fees are payable at the beginning of the semester, in two installments each semester, or on a monthly basis. Enrollment is for the year. Students starting mid-year will be pro-rated. There are more weeks in the calendar than lessons scheduled. Should you wish to take extra lessons in the semester, talk to your teacher. Fees are paid to the office at Morningside College or can be sent by mail. Students will not receive lessons until payment has been made. No bills will be sent. There will be a change for returned checks. Please mark the second tuition reminder on your calendar. There is no refund for missed lessons. Please note that for some performance events, there may be a small accompanist fee.

Expectations
As a member of the Academy, each student is required to participate in the spring recital and any rehearsals your teacher requires you to attend. In addition, the student must practice regularly and display appropriate conduct in lessons and other events. Students need to be willing and available to play on recitals when asked by their teacher.

Make-up lessons
If a students misses a lesson, it will be made up at the teacher’s discretion. Any lesson missed by a teacher will be made up as the teacher’s schedule permits. Teachers are not required to make up any more than two lessons missed by a student. To avoid missing a lesson, students anticipating an absence should talk to their teacher early on so an effort can be made to give the student another time. For cancellations due to inclement weather, every effort will be made to reschedule lessons. Further policies can be obtained in the college office.

The Academy reserves the right to discontinue enrollment for students with excessive absences, insufficient progress, or improper demeanor.
