Gail
Dooley, associate professor of music, teaches voice, diction
for singers, song literature and vocal pedagogy. She is also the
director of the Morningside Opera Theatre. She performs regularly
both in solo recitals and as a guest soloist with performing ensembles
in Sioux City. Dooley's students perform regularly on campus
and throughout the Siouxland community, performing major roles
in Morningside College Opera Theatre and Musical Theatre productions.
They have placed among the finalists in regional, state, and local
competitions. Dr. Dooley received her bachelor's and master's
degrees in vocal performance from the University of Tennessee at
Chattanooga. She completed her Doctor of Music in vocal performance
with an emphasis on vocal pedagogy at Florida State University.
Before joining the faculty of Morningside College, Dr. Dooley taught
voice at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Chattanooga
State Technical Community College, and Cadek Conservatory of Music.
Some of the groups with which she has appeared as soloist include
the Sioux City Symphony, the Siouxland Master Chorale, the Chattanooga
Symphony Orchestra, the Chattanooga Opera Company,
the Chattanooga Bach Choir, the Asheville (N.C.) Symphony Orchestra,
the Western Carolina Summer Music Institute, and the Smoky Mountain
Chorale.
