Sing, Say, Dance, Play
Ages: 4-5
Preschool-aged children will be introduced to musical concepts through songs, stories, movement, playing instruments, and games. The Orff-Schulwerk approach provides for musical growth opportunities through students interacting with each other as partners in making music. Jill Wilson, Assistant Professor of Music Education at Morningside College, will teach the class assisted by Morningside music education majors. This session will be limited to eight students.

Stories & Songs
Ages: 6-7
This music workshop will tie children’s literature to songs and games appropriate for children who have just completed kindergarten and first grade. It will also involve singing, saying, dancing, and playing. Your child will experience the rhythm of language and make connections to musical concepts in a fun, creative atmosphere. Jill Wilson, Assistant Professor of Music Education at Morningside College, will teach the class assisted by Morningside music education majors. This session will be limited to 12 students.

Barred Instrument Band
Ages: 8-10
Ensemble playing of the many different Orff instruments is the main thrust of this offering. Students will be guided on a musical journey including singing, playing, creating, and improvising. This camp is open to students who have completed grades 2-4. Jill Wilson, Assistant Professor of Music Education at Morningside College, will teach the class assisted by Morningside music education majors. This session will be limited to 12 students.

Imagination Camp for Beginning Strings
Ages: 6-11
This camp is for string players with limited playing experience. Beginning Violin, Viola, Cello, and Double Bass players are encouraged to attend. Experience a fun week of music lessons, composing, concerts, and ensembles. Private instruction will be given to improve playing skills by Dr. Dan Auerbach. Students will be divided into small groups for instruction as well as playing as a large ensemble. A final concert will include faculty performances of student compositions and performances by the students themselves.

Advanced String Ensemble
Ages: 12 and up
Lessons, chamber coaching, and ensemble rehearsals will be an integral part of the camp being taught by Dr. Dan Auerbach. In addition, we will discuss practice techniques, performance issues such as stage fright, as well as other performance-related issues that students may be interested in. Faculty will also perform a formal concert for the students.

Vocal Arts Performance Camp
Ages: 15 and up
The Vocal Arts Performance Camp is offered to anyone age 15 and older with a keen interest in singing who would like to develop their vocal and performance skills. Students will receive five days of intensive training including private lessons and a variety of interactive workshops constructed to give the student a strong foundation in the skills necessary to become a great singer. The camp is being taught by Kate Saulsbury, Shannon Salyards, and Steve Lundberg.

Camp Allegro Piano Workshop
Ages: All Ages
This workshop is designed for piano students of all levels who want to improve their playing and interpretive skills. Students will have the opportunity to participate in master classes, mini-lectures, and theory classes. An evening performance by guest artist Richard Steinbach joined by LKAM faculty member Michele Grossman will cap off the day.
Date: July 31
Time: 10:00 am for Intermediate and Advanced
1:30 pm for Beginners
The camp will continue through the day with a potluck dinner at 5:30 pm followed by a concert at 6:30 pm.
