The Education Department has designed a comprehensive system by which graduate students are assessed. The components include:
Initial:
- Basic knowledge and skills evidenced by undergraduate grade point average
- Writing skill evidenced by the required initial application essay
Formative:
- Demonstration of competencies in each course as outlined by course syllabi and evidenced by course grades.
- Evaluation of student progress through Admission to Candidacy for the degree, evidenced by course grades, including EDUC 501 Educational Research, and the required candidacy application essay (degree-seeking candidates only)
Summative:
- Final grade point average
- Demonstration of knowledge, skills, and dispositions evidenced in the final internship (for those completing special education and TAG endorsements only)
- Written comprehensive examination demonstrating the meeting of the graduate goals and the application of knowledge and skills and including evidence of K-12 student learning (degree-seeking candidates only)
- Presentation of Action Research Report (degree-seeking candidates only)
