ASSESSMENT

The Education Department has designed a comprehensive system by which graduate students are assessed.  The components include:

Initial:

  • Basic knowledge and skills evidenced by undergraduate grade point average
  • Writing skill evidenced by the required initial application essay

 

Formative:

  • Demonstration of competencies in each course as outlined by course syllabi and evidenced by course grades.
  • Evaluation of student progress through Admission to Candidacy for the degree, evidenced by course grades, including EDUC 501 Educational Research, and the required candidacy application essay (degree-seeking candidates only)

 

Summative:

  • Final grade point average
  • Demonstration of knowledge, skills, and dispositions evidenced in the final internship (for those completing special education and TAG endorsements only)
  • Written comprehensive examination demonstrating the meeting of the graduate goals and the application of knowledge and skills and including evidence of K-12 student learning (degree-seeking candidates only)
  • Presentation of Action Research Report (degree-seeking candidates only)
