Summer Science Institute, Morningside College
July 28 - August 1, 2008
Morningside College and Seela Science, Inc. located in Clarinda, Iowa, have partnered to offer convenient and relevant elementary and middle school science courses that can be done either in your classroom with your students, or by yourself on your own time. Each class must be completed during the assigned dates. The classes can be used as part of the Morningside Professional Educator Master's degree or for professional growth to use for licensure renewal or for salary advancement. You do not need to be currently admitted to graduate study at Morningside to take these classes.
Seela Science (home of the Science Connection) provides the Instruction, the Science Activities Manual and Materials Kit. The graduate student determines if they want 1, 2, or 3 credits per course. They set the pace. Morningside College awards the credits. Teachers and their students all become more proficient at science! Intermediate teachers may take 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 one-day courses - each for up to 3 credits. Primary teachers may take 1, 2, 3, or 4 one-day courses - each for up to 3 credits. There will be some out of class work, but nothing is just "busy work." All of this is very doable to be finished in time to implement in the new school year.
Cost is $205 for one credit hour, $265 for two credit hours, or $330 for three credit hours per course.
