The Education Department at Morningside College is accredited by the Iowa Department of Education.  Majors are available in Elementary Education and Special Education.   A special education major does not stand alone and must be accompanied by either an elementary education major or a secondary content major.  Content area majors at Morningside College can complete secondary teaching and secondary special education course work.  Content areas include:  Music, Art, Biology, Chemistry, General Science, Physical Science, English/Language Arts, Spanish, Mathematics, American Government, American History, World History.


Candidates for the Teacher Preparation Program are required to maintain a 2.5 GPA and to meet minimum Pre-Professional Skills Tests (PPST) scores of:  Reading 174, Writing 173, Math 173.  Elementary teaching candidates must pass the Praxis II before licensure.   For information about registering for these tests, call Western Iowa Tech at 274-6443 or register online at www.ets.org/praxis.  For other information about admission, contact Morningside Admissions at 712-274-5111, or mcsadm@morningside.edu.
