What's New?

This is the third year that students may apply for a computer technology scholarship. Also, the department maintains its own servers. Students have the opportunity to gain experience by maintaining their own server if they choose to do so.

Creative, intelligent, insightful.  Team-builder, problem-solver, inventor.  Leader, innovator, visionary.  All words used to describe those of us who do computer science. 

Computer science gives us the chance to dream of the world the way it could be and then work together to create the environments, technology, and tools that bring our dreams to life.  Whether we build websites or other software, cell phones or other devices, clouds or other systems, or do any of the many other things computer scientists do, in the end, we all build the future.

Because of the great need for people who understand computer science (a need that the US Bureau of Labor predicts will continue to grow at a rapid pace) our salaries are higher than most and our employment prospects are strong.  Our careers are exciting, satisfying, and financially rewarding.

Morningside's computer science program is different from many others.  Our program breaks down walls between traditional computer science topics and combines them in ways that help our students better understand how different parts of computer science fit together.  Seeing more clearly how things fit together not only makes learning more rewarding, we learn from our graduates that it also benefits their careers.
