Founded: 2 January 1897, at Barnard College , now a part of Columbia University

Founders: Elizabeth Heywood Wyman, Stella George Stern Perry, Jessie Wallace Hughan and Helen St. Clair Mullan

Crest: Unlike other Greek organizations, AOII does not have a crest. Instead, we display a rose

Official Flower: Jacqueminot Rose, a thornless symbol of beauty

Official New Member Pin: A sheaf of wheat, bound by the tie of AOII

Official Color: Cardinal Red

Official Jewel: The ruby

Official Badge: The three initial letters of the sorority superimposed one upon the next in order

Official Philanthropy: Arthritis Research Foundation

UnOfficial Mascot: Panda Bear
